THE EMPATHY ROI The empathy deficit is costing organisations millions — in claims, turnover, conflict, and lost innovation. Over the past year, I’ve been building an ecosystem of empathy-based services — blending facilitation, design thinking, and identity-informed coaching — to help people and organisations move from disconnection to deliberate empathy. The ROI on empathy is backed by data - reducing conflict, mitigating psychosocial risk, increasing engagement and enhancing performance. My initial focus is on the spaces where empathy grows fastest: ✨ Facilitation and coaching programs that build connection and psychological safety. Over July and August I had the opportunity to steward a group of wonderful women Directors in establishing the inaugural IDG (Internal Development Goals) Hub in Australia. They moved from an incoherent group to one that had an aligned purpose and strategy in how to bring their newly co-designed and articulated vision to life. ✨ Workshops that use design thinking and empathy to navigate complex conversations, systemic and cultural change. Throughout September, I have presented at a number of events across sectors, who each have their own particular challenges in relation to the empathy deficit: Across traditionally male-dominated construction, energy and engineering sectors, the cost of the empathy deficit on women is particularly high - in relation to mental health, bullying, harassment and women leaving the sector. Empathy centred workplaces are more collaborative, inclusive, respectful and safe. Empathy deficits in accounting and tax manifests as limited understanding of client context (emotional drivers, family needs, stressors, business culture). Empathy led advisory services generate more customised strategies and timely interventions.
